Not quite decided yet? Even if you don’t see your major in the table above, or if you still believe college graduates work in their field of study, consider the reality of life after college. A study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York found that only 27% of college graduates actually end up working in a field closely related to their major!
Yes, we know facts rarely change minds when you really, absolutely, definitely think you know what college major you want. But imagine this: if you could go back in time and correct some major mistakes (no pun intended), would you do it? Well, you are not alone. Over 60% of college graduates say they would change their major if they could go back.
And one last revelation on college majors demonstrates that over 80% of college students change their major at least once while in college.
So, whatever major you choose at NewU, you can’t go wrong. It’s ok to change your major at any time before you graduate, and it is statistically more than likely that you will get your first 3 jobs in fields not closely related to your major. So breathe in, breathe out, and just go for it! Any choice of major you make at NewU is the right choice.
All NewU students who wish to graduate with a degree in one or more majors must successfully complete all courses required for their chosen major, and at least 4 courses from the electives towards their major. All NewU students may choose to take up to 4 additional electives from another major or majors at no extra cost as part of their NewU program, as long as the course is below capacity and not oversubscribed by other students who need the course to graduate.
All course descriptions and requirements for each major are in the Student Catalog.
